Exelon Side Effects That May Occur

Exelon side effects

EXELON 4.5 MG ExelonExelon side effects cannot really be anticipated, but if any occur or change in intensity, you should notify your doctor immediately. Only your doctor can make a determination of whether you should continue with this Alzheimer's medication in spite of the Exelon side effects.

Exelon Side effects may include:

Abdominal pain, accidental injury, anxiety, depression, confusion, constipation, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, fainting, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, gas, hallucinations, headache, high blood pressure, increased sweating, indigestion, inflamed nasal passages, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, and tremor, urinary infection, vomiting, weakness, weight loss

Exelon side effects and special warnings:

One of the more prominent Exelon side effects is that it has frequently been known to cause nausea and vomiting, especially in the early stages of treatment. This side effect more frequently occurs in women than men and can lead to significant weight loss in both men and women. You should tell your doctor immediately if this side effect occurs.

It has also been observed that the incidence of severe vomiting increases when Exelon is again given after being interrupted for several days. You should not start this medication again after interruption without first consulting with your doctor. Your doctor may actually want to reduce it back to the lowest starting dosage again.

This medication may also aggravate asthma and other problems associated with breathing and can increase the risk of seizures. Similar medications of this type are also known to increase the chance of bleeding, stomach ulcers, and urinary obstruction, although these problems have not been noticed in patients taking Exelon. Medications in this category may also slow down the heartbeat somewhat and sometimes cause fainting in people with heart conditions. Always contact your physician immediately if any of these symptoms occur. This medication has never been tested on children.

Exelon side effects: Possible food and drug interactions

If this medication is taken with other drugs the effects of both may be increased, decreased or altered in some other way. You should be especially careful when combining Exelon with the following:

Bethanechol (Urecholine)

Drugs that control spasms, such as Bentyl, Donnatal, and Levsin

Exelon side effects and special warnings if you are pregnant or breast-feeding:

In addition to the Exelon side effects mentioned above, it is important to understand that this medication is not intended for women of childbearing age, and its effects on pregnancy and breast-feeding have not been studied. While the above will give you a pretty comprehensive understanding of the concerns related to this Alzheimer's drug, it is not intended to be a complete recitation of all of the potential or possible Exelon side effects.
